Executive Order 66: Class and Work Suspension Implemented






President Noynoy Aquino has just recently signed the new policy for Executive Order 66 (EO 66). It is known as the suspension of classes and work in times of natural disasters such as typhoons.

Storm Signal No. 1 – Classes at the pre-school level in the affected area shall be automatically cancelled or suspended.

Storm Signal No. 2 – Classes at the pre-school, elementary and secondary levels in the affected area shall be automatically cancelled or suspended.

Storm Signal No. 3 – Classes at pre-school, elementary, secondary and tertiary levels, including graduate school, as well as work in all government offices in the affected area shall be automatically cancelled or suspended.

In cases where there are classes and work in the morning, suspension of classes and work is only effective in the afternoon. PAGASA should not issue the forecast not later than 11am of the said day. In cases when PAGASA does not issue Public Storm signal, suspension of classes and work in government work may implement by the local executives in coordination with PAGASA and the NDRRMC, particularly in flood-prone areas.
